About 60 kms from the Bavarian Capital of Munich, the picturesque recreational resort Village of Schliersee is framed by the gorgeous mountain scenery of the Bavarian Alps. Thanks to its easy accessibility, it has developed into one of the most favorite recreational resort areas in all Germany. This is about as deep as you can get into the true heart of Bavaria.

As a matter of fact, Lake Schliersee, as well as nearby Lakes Spitzingsee and Tegernsee are considered to be water sport resorts boasting utmost water quality. Among the most famous mountain-climbing and hiking areas are Mt. Wendelstein and Mt. Rotwand (1884 m). Also for the passionate winter sports activist, nearby Spitzingsee offers a package ticket, valid on 16 cable cars and ski lifts in the Taubenstein-Stümpfling-Sutten region, which practically guarantees firm snow until mid April. Besides the many protected historical buildings in Schliersee Village itself, preservation of ancient Bavarian heritage and traditions like the Alt-Schlierseer Kirchtag (Ancient Church Blessing), the Fronleichnamsprozession (Corpus Christi Procession) and the Leonhardifahrt (St. Leonhard's Ride) is something we all take pride in. The latest attraction in town is a Farmhouse & Winter Sports Museum, which was founded and recently inaugurated by Olympic medal winner Markus Wasmeier, displaying a completely restored ancient Bavarian Village.
